Saluda

Saluda is a city in Polk and Henderson counties in North Carolina, a tiny town of 700 residents, boasts a picturesque Main Street packed with an impressive selection of longtime restaurants, shops and galleries surrounded by beautiful scenery. It’s been a popular mountain tourist town since the late-1800s and definitely one of our favorite towns to explore. Nearby is Pearson’s Falls and the Green River Gorge. Saluda is located about 20-25 minutes away from Tryon, NC and just 35 miles from downtown Asheville. Saluda is a mountain oasis, with a picturesque Historic Downtown surrounded by rugged and accessible wilderness. The 18,000 acres of the Green River Gamelands and the Greenville Watershed have served as natural buffers, helping to preserve the inherent character of this mountain town. Saluda’s unique history begins with the downtown district, perched at the top of the steepest railroad grade in the United States. Visiting Saluda, one will find themselves in a bustling downtown with fabulous restaurants, unique shops, a vibrant art and music scene, and a hub for outdoor adventure. Saluda is the premiere destination for road biking in the Southeast. It has world famous whitewater, amazing fly fishing, and hundreds of waterfalls within striking distance. Visitors love Saluda for its eclectic nature and feel comfortable bringing a tent to camp in paradise, or pampering themselves in a luxury inn.
